Arkansas football struggles defensively in SEC-opening loss at No. 17 Ole Miss

There were concerns about Arkansas’ defense during a 2-0 start that saw the Razorbacks overwhelm overmatched teams from Alabama A&M and Arkansas State.

On Saturday in Oxford, Miss., those concerns were validated when Arkansas faced its first brand-name opponent.

The Razorbacks allowed 17th-ranked Ole Miss to score on 7 of its first 8 drives and the Rebels won 41-35 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Playing with its backup quarterback, Ole Miss (3-0, 2-0 SEC) gained 481 yards on 68 offensive snaps for an average of 7.1 yards per play when adjusted for end-of-game kneel downs.

The Rebels sealed the game when TJ Dottery stripped Arkansas receiver Jalen Brown and Wydett Williams recovered at the Ole Miss 24 with 1:52 to play.
