Arkansas football seeking reasons for second half scoring desert

FAYETTEVILLE — The numbers don’t lie.

Arkansas has been riding an unmistakable boom-and-bust trend on offense when it comes to first half and second half scoring during its 3-game losing streak.

The Razorbacks (2-3, 0-1 SEC) know they need to defeat the second half blues to start turning their season around under interim coach Bobby Petrino. Following an open week marked by staff turmoil in the wake of Sam Pittman’s firing, Arkansas jumps back into the grind on Saturday at 3:15 p.m. Central on the road at No. 12 Tennessee (4-1, 1-1).

The Razorbacks have scored 10 total points in the second halves of their losing streak — narrow losses at Ole Miss (41-35) and Memphis (32-31) followed by the 56-13 home loss to Notre Dame that cost Pittman his job — after erupting for 69 points in the first halves of those games.
