Arkansas football preparing for Ole Miss QB uncertainty with Austin Simmons’ injury

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas football is preparing for two quarterbacks this week ahead of Saturday’s 6 p.m. SEC opener at Ole Miss.

Rebels starting quarterback Austin Simmons was assisted off the field last Saturday after being tackled awkwardly with 6:40 remaining during a 30-23 victory over Kentucky. He couldn’t put weight on his right leg.

Ole Miss (2-0, 1-0 SEC) turned to backup quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who led the Rebels on a 9-play, 50-yard drive that ended in a field goal. Chambliss did not throw any passes but rushed 3 times for 13 yards.

Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin said postgame that Simmons could have played the final two drives if needed.
