Arkansas football notebook: Sam Pittman excited about team, no longer dealing with hip

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas football coach Sam Pittman will enter training camp pain free in his hip, an occurrence that never happened last season after he learned late in the summer he would need hip replacement surgery.

Pittman hobbled around in pain all last season, coached the regular season finale at Missouri in the press box because he had to be off his pain medication for the surgery, then worked from a golf cart much of spring practice as he went through rehabilitation.

Pittman, entering his sixth season as head coach, clearly had more spring in his step as he mounted the dais for his pre-camp press conference on Thursday.
