FAYETTEVILLE — Former Northwestern player and coach Pat Fitzgerald is eager to get back into coaching and he reportedly has suitors.
CBSSports.com reported Monday that Fitzgerald has “interviewed” with Arkansas among other programs. Fitzgerald has also been connected to the opening at Penn State and it is thought he would be in the mix at Michigan State if the Spartans move on from Jonathan Smith.
Fitzgerald, 50, has been out of coaching since being fired the summer before the 2023 season after allegations of hazing surfaced within the program. Fitzgerald recently told ESPN he felt vindicated following the August settlement of his $130 million wrongful termination lawsuit against his alma mater, which attempted to fire him for cause.
