OXFORD, Miss. — Arkansas football's SEC opener exposed some of the deficiencies on the team’s defensive unit, most notably its pass rush and tackling in space.
Arkansas coach Sam Pittman lamented the defensive performance at several points during his postgame press conference.
“I mean, we’ve got to communicate better,” Pittman said. “Two or three of the scores in the first half we just had guys wide open, couldn’t cover a back.”
The Rebels did a good job scheming up easy edge passes for Trinidad Chambliss to their backs and motion players, taking advantage of the Arkansas linebackers and nickel backs.
