Arkansas football finances under the microscope after Sam Pittman, staff firings

FAYETTEVILLE — Former Arkansas football coach Sam Pittman will receive a buyout of 62.5% of the salary that was owed on his contract that ran through December 2027.

Pittman agreed to a negotiated buyout when he was terminated for convenience Sunday, Arkansas athletics director Hunter Yurachek said.

At a 62.5% rate, Pittman will be owed about $7.734 million. He is also in line to receive roughly $999,000 in prorated deferred compensation.

Yurachek said Pittman’s buyout, as well as any buyout funds needed for fired defensive assistant coaches Travis Williams, Marcus Woodson and Deke Adams, will likely be covered through reserves from the Razorback Foundation.
