FAYETTEVILLE — Darius Acuff’s college career is off to a huge start.
The top-shelf freshman point guard scored 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting to help the Arkansas men’s basketball team open the season with a 109-77 rout of Southern on Monday.
Acuff was the Razorbacks’ second-leading scorer behind senior Trevon Brazile’s career-high, 25-point output.
Acuff went off in the first half, scoring 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including 3 of 3 from 3-point range.
The 6-3, 190-pounder from Detroit took just three shots in the second half, a pair from 3-point range, and made just one of them.
