Arkansas basketball loses physicality battle in road defeat to Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Arkansas men’s basketball coach John Calipari knew what kind of contest he and his Razorbacks were walking into against Michigan State on Saturday at Breslin Center.

“This football game we're going to play,” he said following Arkansas’ season-opening win over Southern on Monday, “you better be physical.”

In what has been a dismal football season for the Razorbacks with five losses by one possession, the men’s basketball team added another with a 69-66 loss to Spartans. They faced the previously-mentioned physicality and more in the defeat.

Michigan State scored 46 points in the paint compared to Arkansas’ 28.
