FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas shortstop Wehiwa Aloy was named SEC player of the week Monday.

Aloy had 5 multi-hit games against ULM and Portland last week with 10 runs, 4 doubles, 3 home runs and 11 RBI. He had 12 hits overall.

It is the second time this season Aloy has earned player of the week. He also won the award Feb. 24.

The junior is batting .433 with 7 doubles, 6 home runs and 18 RBI through 16 games. He has also cut down on strikeouts from a year ago, with 7 through 60 at-bats.

“He came back [after summer] and he seemed like he was confident,” Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said last Friday after Aloy homered twice and had 4 RBI against Portland.
