FAYETTEVILLE — At 38-5 overall and 19-2 in the SEC, Texas is the undisputed No. 1 team in college baseball.
But playing their first season in the SEC, the Longhorns have had some scheduling breaks that have likely helped them to a tie for the best 21-game start in league history.
Texas’ best conference opponents to date — No. 2 LSU, No. 7 Georgia, No. 11 Auburn and Texas A&M — had to visit Austin. The travel itinerary, meanwhile, has taken the Longhorns to Mississippi State, Missouri and Kentucky. Those teams all have losing conference records and are a combined 17-46 in the SEC.
