FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas left-hander Zach Root threw 7 innings of 1-hit baseball and the Razorbacks took a 1-0 lead at the NCAA Fayetteville Super Regional with a 4-3 victory over Tennessee on Saturday at Baum-Walker Stadium.
Arkansas (47-13) will play for a chance to advance to the College World Series on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Root delivered his second consecutive postseason gem against a Tennessee lineup that averaged 9 runs per game during the Knoxville Regional last week and got to Root early May 15 on the same field. In that game Root allowed 4 runs, 7 hits and 2 walks in 3 2/3 innings.
