FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas squandered several opportunities early, but scratched across just enough runs Saturday to complement its excellent pitching and move within a game of returning to the College World Series.
Ryder Helfrick provided the go-ahead homer and an insurance run from Charles Davalan’s sixth-inning RBI single proved to be the difference in the Razorbacks’ 4-3 win over Tennessee in Game 1 of the Fayetteville Super Regional.
With one more victory, Arkansas would punch its ticket to Omaha for the 12th time ever and first since 2022, officially putting the disappointments of the last two seasons in the rearview mirror.
