Analysis: Carter's pledge adds to Arkansas' stunning DL haul

FAYETTEVILLE — One would suspect that during the early signing period of December 19-21 and the national signing date of Feb. 6 there will be two Arkansas assistant coaches smiling the biggest.

That would be defensive ends coach Steve Caldwell and defensive tackles coach John Scott Jr., who now have nine highly regarded and highly recruited freshman defenders set to be on next year’s roster.

The number grew to nine Wednesday night when Mansfield (Texas) Legacy defensive end Taurean Carter (6-3, 265) publicly announced he would be a Razorback on his father’s birthday.

A teary-eyed and emotional Carter thanked everyone he could think of while announcing his decision at a local restaurant with his teammate and fellow Razorbacks defensive line pledge Enoch Jackson (6-1, 290) in attendance with family and friends.
