Nearly two months before he was tabbed as the new Arkansas football coach, Ryan Silverfield’s name appeared in Hunter Yurachek’s inbox as a suggestion from a fan.
On Oct. 2, just four days after Sam Pittman was fired, Carson Pyles emailed the AD to recommend Memphis’ coach — and not just because the Tigers knocked off the Razorbacks a few weeks earlier.
“Look at what he’s done, teams he’s beat, and teams he’s hung around with that Memphis had no business playing,” Pyles wrote. “He’s the guy.”
Yurachek, or at least someone acting on his behalf, sent a stock response thanking him for reaching out and that he’d note his recommendation of Silverfield.
