Zach Root said out loud what every Arkansas fan was thinking on Saturday afternoon.

The Razorbacks’ ace was dynamite in Game 1 of the Fayetteville Super Regional as No. 3 Arkansas defeated No. 14 Tennessee 4-2. Root tossed seven innings and only allowed a single hit, which happened to be a two-run home run from Volunteer second baseman Dean Curley in the fifth inning. The runner on first had reached thanks to an error. Counting his two walks, the junior lefty allowed just three baserunners all day.

Root was efficient, striking out just six Tennessee batters and pitching to contact for the most part.
