SPRINGDALE — Three icons of Arkansas sports journalism were honored Thursday with their induction into the Arkansas Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame.

Longtime radio broadcaster Kermit Womack, sports reporter Leland Barclay and decorated videographer Jim Borden were inducted at a luncheon at Home 2 Suites in front of a large gathering of family, friends and other guests.

Womack launched his radio broadcasting career in 1954 and retired last year at the age of 90. He started KURM radio in Rogers in 1979 and spent more than 40 years as a trusted voice in community journalism. For more than 30 years he was the Rogers Mounties' play-by-play announcer.
