ATLANTA — The Alabama football team lost no more than two games over the final 13 seasons of Nick Saban’s career, winning five championships in that span. It lost four in 2024 under first-year coach Kalen DeBoer and narrowly missed the College Football Playoff.
Alabama’s titles in 2009 and 2011 sandwiched that relatively down 2010 season, when it went 10-3 and placed third in the SEC West. Despite a down year by the standards Saban set, DeBoer’s resume suggests he could lead the Crimson Tide back to title contention in Year 2.
While offensive coordinator at Indiana in 2019, DeBoer helped the Hoosiers to an 8-5 record, their highest win total since 1993.
