Arkansas Pulls Away For 45-23 Win Over Kansas State In Liberty Bowl

The Arkansas Razorbacks picked up their second straight bowl victory under head coach Bret Bielema, using a dominant running game to pick up the 45-23 win over the Kansas State Wildcats in the Liberty Bowl.

Kansas State got on the board first following an interception by Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen, yet the Razorbacks took over from there and led 24-13 at halftime. The Wildcats responded on their first drive of the second half as quarterback Kody Cook hooked up with fullback Winston Dimel for a 48-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to four, but the Razorbacks scored a touchdown of their own on the next drive (Allen six-yard pass to Jeremy Sprinkle).

Arkansas then put the game away in the fourth quarter thanks to touchdown runs by Alex Collins and Kody Walker.

Collins led the way for the Razorbacks, rushing for 185 yards and three touchdowns on his way to winning Liberty Bowl MVP honors. Allen also put forth a fantastic effort, throwing for 315 yards and one touchdown.

Kansas State really failed to get any momentum going all game and was outgained by Arkansas 571-242.

The Razorbacks now finish the season with a 8-5 record and closed the year winning six of their last seven games. Kansas State drops to 6-7 on the year, marking their first losing season since 2008.
