Little Rock junior Leilani Wimbish-Gay was named OVC Newcomer of the Week on Wednesday after helping the Trojans to a split at last week's Tulane Holiday Tournament.
Wimbish-Gay – a 5-10 guard out of Victoria, Tex. – scored a career-high 15 points to go with seven rebounds against Tulane, then netted 11 points and four rebounds the next day in a win over Duquesne, the Trojans' first win of the season.
Her recent performance has increased her season averages to 6.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. She has averaged 34 minutes per game over the past three contests, becoming a steady contributor for Coach Joe Foley's squad.
