LITTLE ROCK – For the third time this season, Little Rock's Shanieke Watson earned the Sun Belt Conference's Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award, the league announced on Thursday. Watson is the first Trojan in program history to earn the award three times in her career.
As Little Rock's lone entrant in the Mt. SAC Relays, Watson set a new personal record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:33.13 — 11.53 seconds faster than her previous time. She finished the event seventh out of 24 runners.
Watson's time is currently the fastest in the Sun Belt Conference this season by a margin of 14.
