FOLEY, Ala. – Little Rock's chase for a championship fell short after South Alabama defeated the Trojans 4-0 in Friday evening's semifinal matchup in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Little Rock (9-9-3) struggled to find possession in its attacking half for most of the first half only being able to create one chance towards net. South Alabama (13-5-1) were able to grab an early lead as the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, Rio Hardy, took on a Trojan defender in the box and earned a penalty kick in the 10th minute. Hardy would take the penalty strike and Megan Swanson nearly got a hand to it but it was shot too far into the side net and put the Jags up 1-0.
