State D-1 basketball faces schedule issues

As November approaches, college basketball coaches are scrambling to put their nonconference schedules together. And the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Arkansas State University and University of Central Arkansas are no stranger to this.

All three have recently announced intentions to play in bubble tournaments. UALR will play in a tournament hosted by Louisville, while ASU and UCA will play at Ole Miss. With the NCAA pushing college basketball's start date back to Nov. 25, it has left teams searching for replacement nonconference games and trying to land in tournaments to make up for lost games.

"It's been a big challenge especially for us in the Sun Belt to get games with Power 5 conferences," said ASU men's Coach Mike Balado.
