Pierce Claims Bronze on First Day of Sun Belt Championships

MOBILE, Ala. – Tricia Pierce set a school record in the pole vault as she claimed the bronze medal on the opening day of the Sun Belt Track and Field Championships in Mobile, Alabama Thursday evening.

Pierce cleared a height of 12-6.75 (3.83m), setting a new school record and besting her own top career mark by seven inches, as she placed third in the event and scored the first points of the meet for the Trojans. She became the first Little Rock athlete to clear the 12-foot threshold in the pole vault.

Ka'Neisha Jackson advanced in the 400m hurdles after finishing fifth in the prelims with a time of 1:01.
