Holzmueller in Second After Opening Day of Heptathlon

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Little Rock's Max Holzmueller opened the action at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational in record fashion, registering three personal best marks out of the four first day heptathlon Saturday.

After four events on the opening day Holzmueller is a close second, just 302 points behind Kansas State's Tejaswin Shankar. With 3,036 points to his credit, Holzmueller enters Saturday's final day with a chance to top his previous career-best mark of 4,996 points.

Holzmueller accumulated those points by starting with a personal best 7.27 in the 60m dash then following that with a career-best long jump mark of 23-2.
