Following a weather delay that lasted nearly six hours, LSU junior starting pitcher Anthony Eyanson delivered a sparkling performance to lift the Tigers to a 7-0 win over UALR in the opening game of the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional on Friday night before an announced crowd of 11,678 at Alex Box Stadium.
Eyanson (10-2) struck out 7 batters and walked 1 while giving up 4 hits in 7 2/3 innings pitched to earn the win. Of the 98 pitches thrown by Eyanson in the game, 68 went for strikes.
LSU (44-14) jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Jake Brown hit an RBI single to right center field that scored Derek Curiel, who led off the inning with a single.
