Wildcats set to lock horns with No. 2 Texas

Saturday

September is football season. But there’s room for volleyball, too.

The 16th-ranked Arizona volleyball team will host No. 2 Texas on Friday night as part of the Wildcat Classic, a four-team tournament held in McKale Center.

Friday’s showdown starts at 7 p.m.

Here are three reasons why the Wildcat Classic — and Friday’s match — is a must-see:

1. The Wildcats are good. Coach David Rubio’s team is 8-1 in nonconference play, and could be 9-1 by the time the Longhorns show up Friday night. The UA has swept six of its opponents in straight sets, and beat both SMU and Syracuse in four sets.
