LAFAYETTE, La. - A long day of baseball ended with a victory for Arizona. A long weekend of baseball will continue into Monday.
Arizona defeated Sam Houston State 6-5 in an elimination game Sunday evening at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field to remain alive in the Lafayette Regional.
UA will face host and top seed Louisiana-Lafayette in a game scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday. The Wildcats must defeat the Ragin’ Cajuns — and then beat them again Monday night — to advance to the super-regional round.
Louisiana-Lafayette thumped Arizona 10-3 in the first game Sunday.
