Steve Kerr technically already has eight “world” titles from the NBA, five as a player and three as head coach of the Golden State Warriors. Now he’s going to get a chance to win some real international championships.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Kerr is set to be named coach of the USA men’s basketball team. Kerr will reportedly be the head man for Team USA leading into the next two major international competitions, the 2023 World Cup and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Kerr, 56, was an assistant coach on Gregg Popovich’s Team USA staff for the Tokyo Olympics, where the United States won the gold medal.
