Pac-12 switches to conference play only for fall sports, joining Big Ten

The Pac-12 will play only conference games in several fall sports, joining the Big Ten as the second Power 5 conference to make that decision.

The move to cancel non-conference games was made Friday by the Pac-12 CEO Group that includes Arizona State President Michael Crow.

In additional to football, the decision impacts men's and women's soccer and volleyball.

The Pac-12 also is delaying the start of mandatory athletic activities until health and safety indicators regarding coronavirus enable a move to a phase beyond voluntary workouts currently underway.

“The health and safety of our student-athletes and all those connected to Pac-12 sports continues to be our number one priority,” Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said in a statement.
