Miles Simon was a consensus All-American at Arizona in 1998.
He was the Most Outstanding Player of the 1997 NCAA Tournament.
He also led the Wildcats to their only NCAA Tournament title.
On Wednesday, almost 20 years after Simon's career at Arizona ended, the school announced that it would recognize the shooting guard on Oct. 14, during a ceremony at halftime of its annual Red-Blue game.
The Wildcats previously only retired the jerseys of athletes who received a national player of the year award or a major national athlete of the year honor.
