Arizona has produced one No. 1 overall draft pick in the history of the four major professional sports.
A second could be coming soon.
Scottsdale native Auston Matthews is expected to go first in the NHL draft in late June.
Matthews will join an elite list. The only Arizona native to ever go No. 1 in a major sports draft was former ASU baseball and Apollo High school standout Bob Horner.
Horner went first overall in the 1978 MLB draft.
The state of Arizona has never produced a No. 1 pick in the NBA or the NFL.
