For the second straight day, the Arizona Wildcats needed to come back from a 2-1 deficit. For the second straight day, they were successful as they pulled out the five-set win over Maryland by the score of 25-22, 22-25, 19-25, 25-17, 15-11.
“That was a really kind of a gut-wrenching match in a lot of different aspects, but it was hard-fought by both teams,” Arizona head coach Dave Rubio said. “I thought both teams were pretty evenly matched and on a neutral floor. And, fortunately, we were able to play a little bit better at the end of set four and set five.
