TEMPE - Jorinde van Klinken is officially the best in the world.
The first-year Sun Devil competed in both Arizona's Tucson Elite Classic and the USTA Throws Festival this week in Tucson where she shattered her own personal record, tossed a pair of Olympic-standards, and lept to the top of the international stage. Van Klinken's fifth-round mark of 70.22m (230-4) leads the world by 1.23 meters/4 feet and broke the Dutch record (63.88m, Corrode de Bruin) by 6.34m/20-5. The IAAF women's discus standard is 63.50m.
