Todd Graham is coaching football at Hawaii. Why is ASU still paying him?

Arizona State athletics still owes former football coach Todd Graham his full $12.8-million buyout, even though Graham now has a new job as Hawaii head coach.

Graham was fired after six seasons at ASU on Nov. 26, 2017 while still under contract through June 2021.

Graham did not take another job until this month when he agreed to a five-year deal with Hawaii. He will make $760,000 in base salary for his first season, going up to $800,000 annually from 2021-24.

ASU is paying Graham in installments through June 2021.
