SAN DIEGO – A small group of Sun Devils made the trip to the Pacific Coast for the Triton Invitational this weekend, including Sun Devil senior Magdalyn Ewen and freshmen standouts Samantha Noennig and Cole Riddle.
Before the Invitational began Friday morning, Ewen threw at the Chula Vista Throws/Vault Meet at the Olympic Training Center just outside of San Diego in the discus throw Thursday afternoon.
She finished second, but in the process moved up on the school record list to second all-time with a launch of 62.47m/204-11.50 feet. Although the throw does not apply to the NCAA season, it is a personal best for Ewen, and moves her to within nine feet of the school record held by former Olympic silver-medalist Leslie Deniz since 1983.
