Tennessee ousts ASU from NCAA Tournament

The Arizona State women's basketball season ended Sunday night like it began – with a narrow loss to an SEC power.

No. 7 seed Tennessee proved too big and skilled for No. 2 ASU, winning 75-64 in an NCAA Tournament second-round game before 2,957 at Wells Fargo Arena. The Lady Vols (21-13) advance to the Sweet 16 against No. 3 seed Ohio State in Sioux Falls, S.D., while ASU (26-7) is deprived of its first set of back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances in the 64-team field era.

The Sun Devils, who dropped an overtime game at home to Kentucky to open the season, led only once – 15-14 in the first quarter – and could not draw closer than five in the fourth after trailing by 10 late in the third.
