Cathedral City, Calif. -- The 17th- ranked Arizona State softball team improved to 13-2 on the season with a, 7-3, win over Cal State Fullerton Sunday afternoon to close out the 2018 Mary Nutter Classic.
The Sun Devils were anchored by senior pitcher Breanna Macha, who pitched her third complete game of the season. The Mesa, Ariz., native threw 97 pitches on the day, allowing just three runs on six hits, en route to her fourth win of the season.
The Sun Devils jumped out to an early, 1-0, lead when freshman first baseman Daniele Gibson launched a solo shot down the left line to leadoff the second inning.
