Sun Devils Baseball Boasts More than 50 Professional Baseball Players in 2022

PHOENIX - Nine Major Leaguers, four MLB postseason participants, four league champions and a pennant winner headlined a group of more than 50 Sun Devils in professional baseball worldwide during the 2022 season.

Two of the nine big leaguers made their Major League debuts - bringing ASU's all-time tally to 114 - in Brian Serven (COL) and Spencer Torkelson (DET). They were joined by Austin Barnes (LAD), Ryan Burr (CWS), Kole Calhoun (TEX), Merrill Kelly (ARI), Deven Marrero (MIA), Seth Martinez (HOU) and Trevor Williams (NYM) as returning Major Leaguers.

The first overall pick of the 2020 MLB Draft, Torkelson played in 110 games for the Detroit Tigers, smacking eight home runs and 28 RBI.
