Jack Jones and Chase Lucas get teased about being the grizzled veterans in an otherwise young back end of the defense.
Their position coach happens to be one of the newer additions to the staff in Chris Hawkins. At 25, he's believed to be the youngest assistant coach at a Power 5 school. So he isn't much older than those he is coaching.
The three have a unique bond that goes way back. Hawkins is a former standout at Pac-12 rival USC. In 2016 and 2017 he played on the same team with Jones, who joined the Sun Devils last season after a few years away from the game and some turbulent years in Los Angeles.
