Arizona State gymnastics did virtually everything right in a season that because of COVID-19 was primed for plenty to go wrong.
The Sun Devils reached the Pac-12 championship session and NCAA regional final, scoring a school postseason record of 197.600 in the latter. They were ranked as high as No. 7 nationally and finished No. 9 — highest by far since 2006.
Jay Santos was named regional coach of the year for the second time in four years with Jessica Santos and Kristin White recognized as regional assistant coaches of the year.
About all that is missing is qualifying as a full team for the NCAA Championships.
