Past, present and future: What we learned in ASU's Las Vegas Bowl loss to Fresno State

The curtain officially came down on the first year of the Herm Edwards era Saturday night as the Sun Devils lost to No. 21 Fresno State 31-20 in the Las Vegas Bowl at Sam Boyd Stadium.

The Sun Devils finished the season 7-6.

It was a learning year for Edwards and his new staff after they assumed control of the program last December.

Nine of ASU's games were determined by a touchdown or less, and before the loss on Saturday, their five losses had come by a total of 30 points. They also closed out the regular season with wins in four of their last five games, highlighted by a 41-40 victory over rival Arizona to maintain control of the Territorial Cup.
