Pandemic extends Cortney Jones' time to make impact at Arizona State

Cortney Jones wanted more than a new place to run track when she transferred from Florida State.

She found exactly that at Arizona State, where in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic and a summer of social unrest she has emerged as one of the leaders on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and Sun Devils United, an athlete group focused on social justice issues.

"ASU has helped me a lot," to find her activist voice, Jones said. "I knew once I transferred I wanted to be more involved. I just wasn't as involved as I wanted to be or I could be (at Florida State).
