It all came down to Arizona State’s George Stoupe and Wichita State’s Nicolas Acevedo on court four. Stoupe forced a third set after a tight contest, and did it again to send the Sun Devils to a 4-3 win and onto the next round of the NCAA Tournament.
“It was incredibly impressive to see George stay focused after being down 40-love and having four match-points against him,” Arizona State coach Matt Hill said. “He didn’t panic, he stayed the course, and it was amazing getting out of that game then getting out of the break.
