GOLD CANYON, Ariz. - The eight-time NCAA champion Sun Devil women's golf team grabbed the early lead after the first of three rounds at its NCAA Regional Monday at Superstition Moutain Golf Club in Apache Junction.
ASU shot a 2-under 286, led by Isla McDonald-O'Brien (five birdies) and Patience Rhodes who each shot 2-under 70. Each golfer is tied for third and sits only one stroke back of the overall individual lead. The Sun Devils wasted no time establishing themselves as one of the premier teams competing at the Gold Canyon Regional.
