The Sun Devil men's golf team won its quarterfinal match against North Carolina early Tuesday morning, 3-1-1 behind convincing wins by Mason Andersen and Ryggs Johnston and a tee-to-green drive tap-in birdie on hole No. 17 by Chun An Yu.
Ryggs Johnston, who finished third in stroke play, took a two-hole lead at the turn after a birdie on the eighth and ninth holes over Ryan Burnett. He then won holes No. 12 and No. 13 to win 4&3.
David Puig fell behind Peter Fountain two holes through six and never cut it closer and fell 2 & 1 in the first match of the day.
