PHOENIX – Starting right-hander Seth Martinez tossed a complete game and freshman left fielder Tyler Williams was responsible for all three runs as Sun Devil Baseball defeated Stanford, 3-2, on Friday night at Sunken Diamond in Stanford, Calif.
Martinez (6-3) allowed just two runs on six hits and two walks, and struck out three in his ninth quality start of the season. He bookended his second complete game of the season with strikeouts, including a swinging strikeout with the tying run on first base for the final out of the night.
Williams used a pair of singles to drive in the Devils’ first two runs of the game and notch his first career multi-RBI game, and scored the go-ahead run from third in the seventh.
