Senior Ryggs Johnston led No. 4/5 Arizona State Men's Golf with a 1-under 71 in the first round of the 2023 Calusa Cup, tying for seventh individually as the Sun Devils sit in fourth as a team.
Arizona State got to fourth in the 10-team field after one round at a 4-over 292 (71-72-73-76=292/+4) in day one of action in the sunshine state. Three of five Sun Devils are in the top 15.
Johnston shot an impressive 4-under 67 in the first round with four birdies and an eagle on 18. He 5-under par on his last seven holes Michael Mjaaseth finished with an even 72, finding the cup a birdie on three holes, including his first two.
