El PASO, Texas — The Washington State Cougars were driving on the Arizona State Sun Devils. ASU had a 38-34 lead but Anthony Gordon and company were marching down field. With only seconds to play Gordon, the nation's leading passer, was flushed from the pocket and pressured by sophomore defensive end Jermayne Lole. The pass fell incomplete, and the Sun Devils hung on.

Lole (6-foot-2, 284-pounds) has emerged a key defender for the Sun Devils (7-5), who will square off against ACC representative Florida State (6-6) at noon Monday in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl.
