Former Arizona State golfers reminisce as Karsten Golf Course closes for good

After 30 years, 10 NCAA women's and men's team championships, 10 individual national champions and 16 conference championships, Arizona State’s Karsten Golf Course has closed for good.

The golf course, an 18-hole facility which was designed by Pete Dye and opened in September 1989, hosted its final day of play on Sunday.

The golf course now awaits its future development. The property, which sits about seven miles east of Phoenix Sky Harbor airport, is part of the 330-acre ASU athletic facilities district, created in 2010 by the Arizona Legislature. The area is now called the Novus Innovation Corridor and being master planned by ASU and Catellus Development Corporation.
